thunderstorms

i used to love thunderstorms
when we lived together in that big skylit loft down by the river
the noise and the fire in the sky
really scared the cats and me
but the fact of your presence was comforting somehow
the warmth of you made it okay
even though the air was electric with excitement and danger
everytime the sky lit up

now i live alone on the ground floor
and you never even return my calls
and the roll of thunder over the city
only makes me sad
